East Williamsburg's Moore Street Market (aka La Marqueta de Williamsburg), a vendor smorgasbord that dates back to the '40s that has teetered on the brink of closure for a while now, has been given a new five-year lease. Vendors turned the struggle to keep the market open into a bitter anti-gentrification battle, though the city eyed the site for affordable housing. NYC's Economic Development Corproation will toss in $180K to help the place out. [Gowanus Lounge]
