Downtown drivers were either better behaved this year, or cops just got lazy. Downtown Express reports that the West Village saw a 29 percent drop in parking tickets, from 19,859 in 2007 to 14,105 last year. The Lower East Side saw a 24% drop, Chelsea was down 22% and the East Village had 14% fewer tickets issued. [Downtown Express]
