After a year of giving the Landmarks Preservation Commission the silent treatment for asking him to fix his Greenwich Hotel penthouse, Robert De Niro is finally speaking to the LPC again. His team reportedly met with the commission last week to explain why they're taking so long to make recommended changes to the Tribeca hotel's penthouse, though the reason for the delays is still not known. The penthouse is bigger than the LPC-approved design and has a steeper roof line. The LPC can order De Niro to tear down the penthouse, but no one expects it to come to that?unless he keeps pissing them off. [NYP; previously]
