A star-studded cast of opponents couldn't stop Two Trees Management's Dock Street Dumbo project, but perhaps the long arm of the law can finally get a good stranglehold. The Brooklyn Paper informs us that the Dumbo Neighborhood Foundation is suing to stop the project, arguing that the Department of City Planning, the City Planning Commission, the School Construction Authority, and every official body within a 30-mile radius colluded with the developer in a shady manner on that zoning change in return for a public middle school as part of the 17-story development. What's more -- conspiracy alert! -- the already-approved middle school may not actually meet city standards. Nor could the lawsuit fail to mention that little matter of the obstructed Brooklyn Bridge views, the source of a few headaches for the project in its early days. Fair enough: the middle schoolers will need something to look at, especially during pre-algebra.
