CurbedWire: 14th Street Y's New Look, Broker Switcheroo at 245 Tenth, Big Landmarks Day

EAST VILLAGE?The slightly dated (institutional, maybe?) interiors of neighborhood stalwart the 14th Street Y just got a $1.2 million freshening-up at the hands of Studio ST and Z-A. Included in the renovation: a remodeled lobby, new locker rooms and a revamped fitness center. Here's some archibabble: "The ground floor program – lobby, fitness center, locker rooms, offices, showers and pool – was reorganized as a series of parallel bands, each with its own identity. As members move through the different bands, they experience the simultaneous happenings at the community center that animate the building." [CurbedWire Inbox]

WEST CHELSEA?Our trouble-o-meter was set off by the fact that listings at the shiny metallic High Line-straddler 245 Tenth got yanked off the market. After investigating, it turns out that a brokerage switch is on the way. Boring! [CurbedWire Staff]

UES, GREENWICH VILLAGE, SOHO, CROWN HEIGHTS?In an e-bulletin to end all e-bulletins. the Historic Districts Council braces us for an epic upcoming day at the Landmarks Preservation Commission: "If you were wondering what to do during the day on Tuesday, October 27, your questions have been answered! Come to the Landmarks Preservation Commission and take part in what will probably be the biggest designation day in recent history. The LPC has scheduled a public hearing for four(!) historic district extensions: The Upper East Side Historic District Extension, the Greenwich Village Historic District Extension II (or as we prefer to think if it, South Village Historic District, Phase One), the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District Extension and the Crown Heights North Historic District Extension (or rather, part of Crown Heights North Historic District, Phase Two)."
