The Landmarks Preservation Commission has given a UWS Chabad group the thumbs up to turn two West 86th Street landmark rowhouses into a day school, synagogue, and community center. Convincing those hard-to-please LPCers took a few tries, but they were ultimately swayed by Chabad's promises not to change any of the buildings' floor heights. The townhouses' current renters -- who complained about the construction -- will be booted. [Westside Independent via Real Deal]
