The latest headlines from Curbed Hamptons, our outpost on the East End...
1) Reminding us of what the neighbors already knew, Zillow has crowned Ira Rennert's Sagaponack spread the biggest house in America. The home, which has between 21 and 29 bedrooms and 18 to 49 bathrooms, is worth -- even now -- an alleged $202 million.
2) Large home news: imaginary edition! The East Hampton Town Planning Board has said nuh-uh to developer Jeffrey Collé, who hoped to build a 14,000-square-foot mansion on Wainscott Hollow Road. The town would prefer a subdivision, the planning board said.
3) At the opposite end of the spectrum, there are about 23 properties available in the Hamptons for under $500,000. The least expensive property on offer is a $23,999 mobile home in Westhampton Beach, while for-sale homes in East Hampton bump right up against that $500,000 line. And still local brokers say prices will need to come down.
