Lord Norm's Crazy Lift

The Times reports on how the Sperone Westwater gallery folks got Lord Norman Foster to design their new building on the Bowery. Answer: They asked! And then, "He took out paper and pencil and started sketching." It's that easy! Meanwhile, that big red elevator visible from the street that'll double as a "moving exhibition space" can friggin' fit 240 people! It's going to move at one-third the typical elevator speed to give people more time to admire the art and awkwardly stare up at the floor indicator. [NYT; previously]
