The shuttered and nondescript red building at Avenue B and 12th Street was the Elim Pentecostal Church until a fire in 2006, but now that a deal to develop the property as a new building with a church tucked inside have fallen through, the congregation is fixing up the place with plans to reopen. Also, the building housed an 800-seat movie theater, and the church plans on showing movies once again. And speaking of old-time movie houses, Brownstoner shows us how easy it is to turn an old Park Slope classic into a new HotKarlplex. [Villager; 'Stoner]
