Ace's Neighbors Not Happy

New, 11 comments

Though feuding between the Ace Hotel and its rent-stabilized tenants has drawn attention, the Observer brings word of another scrap, this time involving a mosque across the street. According to Ken Friedman (who's opening The Breslin in the hotel), the mosque's members "object to seeing people drink alcohol" and asked that he move the restaurant's bar. He refused ("This is the United States of America and we'll do whatever the fuck we want"), but shelved plans to open a bar in the townhouse next door. There are rumored threats, but Friedman likes the perks: "Five times a day, there's a hundred cabs on the street." [NYO; previously]
