And now, the latest from Racked, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.
1) UWS: The Apple store slated to open soon at 67th Street and Broadway has acquired a fall coat to help it stay warm until its launch. There are also some new deets about what will be under the coat once it comes off. The store will borrow aesthetic details from the Fifth Avenue store and one in Sydney, Australia, and the now-cloaked 67th Street storefront "will present a blue-green, filtered view into the store."
2) Park Slope: Men's clothing and furnishings shop Hog Mountain has brought the Deep South to Brooklyn, combining jeans, leather belts, toiletries, and bow-ties in one folksy store complete with lounge area. Owner Jess Draper has vowed to respond to customer requests. So far, in the yes column: skinny ties and cardigans. In the no column: firearms and bourbon.
3) LES: The Lower East Side held a funeral last night for menswear line Yoko Devereaux, a victim of the economic crisis. The line died the same day as Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, so the mourners decided to wait until they could get some attention again.
