CurbedWire: One Mad Park Rumblings, New Landmark!

New, 5 comments

FLATIRON?Closings are underway at One Madison Park and its sister tower at 23 East 22nd Street is in a state of flux, so what's the new bit of construction spotted by a Curbed tipster who peaked inside the plywood on 22nd Street? Answer: This is the area that will eventually become the lobby/amenities and connect the two buildings. Oh, those sweet, sweet amenities. [CurbedWire Inbox]

MIDTOWN?Ladies and gentleman, your new Manhattan landmark, courtesy of the Landmarks Preservation Commission: The Edith Andrews Logan Residence, a 19th century neo-Federal style townhouse at 17 West 56th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Per LPC, "the 4 1/2-story, three-bay, red-brick building was originally constructed in 1870 as a modest brownstone rowhouse. Edith Andrews Logan, the wealthy widow of horse breeder and military commander John Alexander Logan, Jr., bought the building in 1903, when the neighborhood was known as 'Vanderbilt Row,' a 10-block stretch on Fifth Avenue south of Central Park where members of the Vanderbilt family had erected three mansions by the late 19th century." Since 1976 the building has been a showroom for a Japanese beauty product manufacturer. [CurbedWire Inbox]
