Big-Box Blowout!

New, 8 comments

Maybe that whole facelift thing wasn't the best idea. Crain's reports that 1775 Broadway, currently being glassed up and re-branded as 3 Columbus Circle (f/k/a/ the Newsweek Building), will have its power shut off on Monday if developer Joseph Moinian doesn't pay the ConEd bill. Moinian is in a bit of a financial pinch on the property, but there's a savior in sight: Kohl's is considering leasing five floors for its first Manhattan department store. (No lights may actually help in selling those clothes. Meow!) And in other big-box news, the East River Plaza Costco opens today. [Crain's]
