CurbedWire: Meet the Plywood Monster of Fifth Avenue

New, 3 comments

MIDTOWN?Developer/landlord Joseph Moinian's 530 Fifth Avenue just got an epic wall of scaffolding and plywood, the likes of which we haven't seen on Fifth Avenue since the days of co-ops putting up barricades during the Puerto Rican Day Parade. It comes in advance of the creation of a new "flagship retail opportunity" at street level, and even though the look might be an improvement, not everyone is convinced. One reader writes, "Take a look. They didn't even spring for new plywood or paint on this." C'mon, have a heart, dude's got money problems. [CurbedWire Inbox]

UPPER EAST SIDE?The NYT's real estate section over the weekend had that story about the return of bidding wars, but one tipster was more interested in the photo gallery of the mentioned apartments. Specifically, this photo. Tippy write: "Surely there is a place for this caned-back chair throne on Curbed?! Here's another one, in case anyone wanted to retrofit their bathroom to match the one in the Classic 8." Noted! [CurbedWire Inbox]
