The Board of Standards and Appeals said no way last night to the 580 Carroll Street developers' request to increase the building's density beyond what's allowed in zoning rules. The board laughed off the developers' explanation for $2.85 million in cost overruns. Said one BSA member: "Why didn't you do some better assessment of your own site?" Burn! The developers have until December to come up with a more realistic rationale for the higher density. [Brownstoner; previously]
