Following the building's Scarano-to-Hot-Karl architect switch, there are vaguely conflicting reports about what's next for the ever-terrifying Carroll Gardens Hell Building (beyond, obviously, ongoing hellishness). The Daily News drops the bomb that the steel tumor atop 333 Carroll Street could remain there indefinitely. Even though the tumor doesn't comply with zoning rules, there's no deadline by which developer Isaac Fischman has to remove it, according to a Buildings Department spokeswoman. But! The Brooklyn Eagle reports -- by way of City Council member Bill De Blasio -- that thanks to that new neighborhood downzone, DOB will require the project to scale down. At, uh, some point.
