And now, the latest from Racked, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.
1) Soho: If this was 1989 and not 2009, we bet word of the Gap opening its first (we think?) Soho store would cause all sorts of neighborhood ire. We're pretty sure Hollister took care of all that, so on November 13 head down to 528 Broadway and welcome the new guy to the streets of Soho.
2) Midtown: Canada's fashion supervillain Peter Nygård, who already blessed Broadway with his signature, is now opening his first U.S. retail store on Broadway between 40th and 41st Streets tomorrow. Nygard even invented his own type of light for the occasion. Is he God? Probz.
3) NYC, UWS: Racked readers have been submitting all sorts of awesome secret shopping tips, like this one regarding the Salvation Army on the UWS: "Every so often, if there is a donation of authentic handbags and shoes, they will keep them stored in the back of the store for their devoted customers. I suggest you ask the guy manning the cash register if he has any goods in back, and he might be in a good mood to share."
