A Pakistani newspaper wants to know why, with all his country's troubles, President Asif Ali Zardari stayed in a $6,000/night suite at the Roosevelt Hotel on his last trip to New York instead of, say, the luxury condo he owns in The Belaire in "Upper East Manhattan." The 72nd Street building (where Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle fatally crashed his plane) includes "amenities like a fabulous health club and glass enclosed heated lap pool. Fit for a king or the President of Pakistan!" If any Belaire residents would like to confirm that their building is indeed fit for a president of Pakistan, by all means, chime in. [The Nation]
