Is Tribeca's Independence Plaza North?the 1,300 unit complex of formerly rent-regulated towers along Greenwich Street where 1BRs now rent for up to $3,800?the next Stuy Town? A lawsuit similar to the Stuy Town rent-deregulation kerfuffle has been in play for years, but this one has an added wrinkle. When a tenant noticed the tax breaks the property was getting while bringing the apartments to market rates, the city allowed the owner to repay the amount (all $17,879.42 of it) and retroactively declared that the property never received them.
