Over by the High Line, architect/developer Cary Tamarkin's 456 West 19th Street is taking shape among a slew of high-profile new West Chelsea buildings. This one is comparatively understated, made up of 22 duplexes with huge studio-style windows occasionally streaked in blue and curvy balconies up top to symbolize the wavy waters of the Hudson River. Vaguely reminiscent yet a bit more free-spirited than another new Tamarkin creation, 397 West 12th Street down in the West Village. How's it selling? StreetEasy shows three listings currently in contract. Maybe the curves are making buyers seasick.
