The strip of historic buildings on Pearl Street were demolished despite much outcry (except for the facade of 211 Pearl, now the entrance to a parking garage), but that doesn't mean they're forgotten. The addition to the 2 Gold Street luxury rental tower took the place of some of the old warehouses, and a preservationist has convinced developer TF Cornerstone to foot the bill for three "heritage markers" to be installed at the corner of Pearl Street and Maiden Lane to remind passersby of what existed before all that sexiness.
