A Community of Education Council member may have come up with an alternative zoning option to avert the brewing civil war at Tribeca's 101 Warren Street. The affordable portion of that building has its own entrance with a different address, 89 Murray, and that address belongs to a school district a half-mile away instead of to P.S. 234, where the children of the market-rate residents go to school. The CEC member's proposal -- not officially endorsed by the council -- would extend the boundary for P.S. 234 to Murray Street. Parents were pleased, but education officials warned that the proposal could overcrowd the school. More surely to come. [Tribeca Trib; previously]
