According to an Economic Development Corporation press release that just landed, the city has received 29 responses to its request for qualifications for developers at Willets Point. The city will winnow those replies -- which came from the full spread of commercial, residential, and mixed-use developers -- down to a short list from which it will take proposals next year. The city's original call for entries said the development area includes 980,000 square feet of destination and entertainment space, 3,000 housing units, 400 hotel rooms, and 500,000 square feet of office space.
