The dust has settled from the Landmarks Preservation Commission's war with the community over the St. Vincent's Hospital redevelopment plan, which means it's...time for a new war. This time, the issue is zoning. The Department of City Planning is working on the environmental review connected to the area's rezoning, and the folks over at the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation are none too happy about the scope of the current environmental review. It doesn't, they say, take into account the neighborhood's historic structures or "the effect of shadowing" from the new St. Vincent's buildings. Could that effect be worse than the shadowing from this thing?
