Following yesterday's update on sales at new Long Island City condo building Vere, a Curbed commenter wrote: "And ask about 10 Court Square going up across the street from the Vere. Will block a considerable amount of light and NYC skyline views from the Vere." Ha, as if 10 Court Square will ever get built! The SOM-designed office tower has been looking for tenants for ages (check out the promotional website), and now must face competition from the rival Gotham Center sprouting in nearby Queens Plaza. But here comes liQcity to shush our laughter. The blog hears rumors that following the company's split, developer Rockrose?now under the control of just one Elghanayan brother?is considering building the 25-story project as a residential tower. And not only that, but Rockrose has plans for at least two other big apartment buildings in Court Square, which liQcity has dubbed "the future of Long Island City." How's that burn feel, Queens Westers?
