The Architect's Newspaper sat down with the city's commissioners of parks, planning, transportation, and building design -- henceforth to be known as "Mike's Angels" -- to talk about their plans for the city's streets and parks and the lessons they've learned about greening the city from projects like the High Line and Times Square. Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan's Times Square takeaway? Distract people with beach chairs: "People spent so much time thinking about the beach chairs, and not the project, that I think a strategy going forward for the city is to put lots of beach chairs out for whatever project is going on, and people will only talk about the beach chairs." Hint hint, Pier 1. [Archpaper]
