Among the many complaints about the Second Avenue subway, Second Ave. Sagas reports that the MTA is planning to have entrances and exits to the 96th Street station only on the south side of the street, forcing residents coming from the Harlem side to cross the street to get to the subway. The MTA says it can't dig on the north side of the street because there is already tunnel infrastructure there. But at least one community group is already up in arms about the "safety considerations" of crossing the 96th Street intersection. SAS points out that subway riders at Broadway's 96th Street stop seem to have no problem crossing the street. [SAS]
