Broadway Triangle Moves Forward

Brooklyn's Broadway Triangle took another step towards Armageddon today, as the City Council's Land Use Committee approved the 31-acre rezoning and sent it along to the City Planning Commission. The plan to build nearly 2,000 units of affordable housing on land at the meeting point of Williamsburg, Bed-Stuy and Bushwick has dredged up all sorts of controversy and allegations of back-room cronyism, and led to a lawsuit over allegations the planned apartments are too big. City Planning has two weeks to certify the industrial-to-residential rezoning and send it back to the full Council for a vote. [City Room]
