The Observer's Max Abelson pens a nostalgic narrative this week of Goldman Sachs' 85 Broad Street headquarters, which is currently being replaced by new space at 200 West Street. 85 Broad, Abelson writes, "isn't interesting enough to be ugly," and was in fact designed to be "purposefully frumpy." The new building has a similarly anonymous exterior, but inside, it's a little more willing to let loose with murals and a fitness center. Extravagant! [NYO]
