The latest from Racked, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) Midtown: Racked serves up a full photo tour of the gigantic new flagship store for denimwear purveyor Diesel, but it's this bit of news that really grabs us: "Diesel was setting up to host the first of their 'Five on Fifth' dinner series, whereby New York personalities eat a full, real dinner inside of the main window on Fifth Avenue. Every night through Friday, the window will transform from a NY apartment scene into a dining room, with future guests to include Giants football players and socialites Arden Wohl and Hope Atherton."
2) Times Square: Meantime, after paying rent on an unused space in Times Square for years, stumbling sportswear maven Mark Ecko has canceled plans to turn it into a three-story flagship store. Signs of deeper trouble, Mr. Ecko?
3) Bryant Park and environs: And, natch, the latest from the Fashion Week trenches: Marc Jacobs took a trip into the '80s, while at the show for Justin Timberlake's denim-focused William Rast line, "It was 1980's trailor skinhead in a way with which we were not comfortable."
