Curbed International: China's MAD City

Beijing-based, sci-fi inspired MAD architects led 10 other firms in designing the new Huaxi city center in Guiyang, China. The project, called Urban Nature, makes Coney Island's "visions" look like someone photocopied random stuff out of an old Robert Venturi book. It even makes Azerbaijan's Zira Island look a little timid. Each building is mind-blower in and of itself; together this experiment to "design a new city center on a scenic natural site" seems a little bunched up, but hey, that's Urban Nature. Oh, and what does Urban Nature mean? It's about "leaving the machine age behind." Or is it Corb II: Ville Contemporaine Ultimate Extreme?
