A tipster writes, "Was walking to work this morning on the north side of 45th between 5th and 6th when, bam!, a blonde wooden beam the size of a railroad tie hit the street between the traffic and the northern sidewalk, splintering and knocking over a construction worker who had been standing there to (I think) pause traffic occasionally. The site is on the south side of the street. Guy was on his back, leaning against the curb. Fortunately the beam did not hit him in the head or directly but only on ricochet. I’m sure I’m not the only person to call 911. A lot of people had their cell phones out." [CurbedWire Inbox]
