The Jewish Daily Forward reports that the Park Slope Food Co-op?long the punching bag of anti-Slopers who portray the market as bleeding-heart headquarters?is considering a ban on Israeli-grown produce as a response to the situation in Gaza. Could this cause war amongst the 15,000 members? Says a rabbi connected with the Co-op: "It will remain an irrelevant gesture to 5 million Israelis and 2 million Palestinians, but it will make someone in Park Slope feel really good about themselves. That's what this is about; it's about the political purity, which is part of Park Slope's unique self-absorption." [JDF via Gowanus Lounge]
