As we were compiling that survey of recent starchitecture disasters the other day, another one was taking place. Japanese architect Toyo Ito's new fountain in Pescara, Italy, cracked up?literally, not ha ha. Shaped like a wine glass (it's in Italy, after all), the fountain appears to be a huge block of cast resin which, to be clear, cracked in half. Chalk it up to heavy-handedness on the part of the architect.
