Restaurant blogs have been atwitter the last week with news of the closing of Isabella's Oven, a rare dining oasis near the Co-Op Village deep on the Lower East Side. Grub Street reported that Isabella's owner is accusing the Seward Park Co-Op Board of outright extortion ("They told me to sign over the whole store and [that] they'd forget about what I owed if I gave them the pizza recipe") after, er, not paying her rent for one year. And now, word on the Co-Op Village Message Boards that she took a sledgehammer to the place over the weekend. [Eater/Grub/LES Online]
