On the Market: History-Making Loft on West 13th

New, 16 comments

We're really quite taken with this new-to-market loft on the West Village/Meatpacking District divide, a twin-level pad at 345 West 13th Street. Aethetics aside, what makes the listing noteworthy is its provenance: owned by former IBM executive Ken Ranftle, the property passed to his partner, Craig Leiby, after Ranftle died and a judge ruled that the couple's marriage in Montreal was binding for inheritance—the first such ruling of its kind in New York State. Reads the listing brokerbabble, "Over 3500 sq feet of shimmering openness, complemented by 12 foot ceilings welcome home to the most discerning Fashionista(s)." Indeed(s). Asking $3.995 million.
