Foreclosure Follies

Here's a tip on how to hold on to your home despite only making one mortgage payment before defaulting: get the case assigned to Justice Arthur M. Schack in Brooklyn state court. The Post reports that Schack is "one of a growing number of judges in the country creating a new front in the foreclosure epidemic by forcing banks and mortgage-service agents to prove they own the mortgage." The one-and-done case mentioned above is in Flatbush, where the lender sold the loan and couldn't prove that it still owned the mortgage. [NYPost]
