The latest from Racked, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.
1) Flatiron: H&M, not afraid to flaunt the recession in our faces, is selling fake bling to men for $4.90 a pop. We say "flaunt the recession in our faces," because boy, the Diamond District guys sure had a good laugh when we brought them these out of desperatio.
2) Williamsburg: Casual observers may have noticed that Williamsburg hipsters (what's left of 'em) like wearing old-timey things, which W Magazine thinks is a "response to the plummeting Dow." But Racked thinks the reasons are entirely different. Drama!
3) Nolita: Making the rare and tricky transition from Brooklyn to Manhattan, Greenpoint-based fashion label Hayden-Harnett has opened its first Manhattan boutique at 253 Elizabeth Street.
