Entire City Up for Adoption

New, 7 comments

The Queens Museum of Art has two problems: its massive scale model of New York City (895,000 pieces strong!) hasn't been updated since 1992, and it needs money like nobody's business. Solution: "Starting Monday, you can 'own' an apartment in the tiny world of the model — say, the one you live in — for $50. A single-family house will cost $250. And for $10,000, developers can have their brand-new glass-tower condo buildings added to the panorama — no matter how many units are languishing on the market." The first to sign up? The Mets, who paid to replace Shea with Citi Field. Finally, we can own 40 Bond! [NYT]
