Crain's reports that an interim amusement park at Coney Island might open by the summer of 2010, on land already owned or soon to be owned by the city (i.e., not Astroland). The park would operate for five to seven years as infrastructure work is completed on the area, which would then allow for the city's massive redevelopment plan and a permanent amusement park. City officials have already met with amusement operators to gauge interest in the idea. [Crain's]
