Apparently, the New York Times will not take a snow day in its offensive against the Landmarks Preservation Commission. This time around, the paper focuses on the 13-year effort to have the LPC designate Morningside Heights as a historic district. Why, if New York State's Historic Preservation Office has said Columbiaville meets the criteria for being a "historic place," has the LPC failed to even hold a hearing about Morningside Heights? Because they've been busy with other neighborhoods, they say. Preservationists and politicians are not pleased. [NYT]
