Neighborhood Watch: FiDi Shelter Closing

New, 24 comments

One of William Beaver House's Financial District neighbors is moving out, but buyers at the luxury high-rise might not be too broken up about the news. The Battery Park City Broadsheet reports that John Heuss House, a drop-in shelter that has assisted around 150 homeless people per day at 42 Beaver Street for the past 20 years, will close June 30 after its contract with the city was not renewed. Notes the Broadsheet, "After John Heuss House closes, there will be no facilities for caring for the homeless in Lower Manhattan." Downtown Express has more on the closure. [BPC Broadsheet]
