Construction Watch: EVill Building Gets a Face, Needs a Name

New, 7 comments

With Avenue B's Copper Building recently outed, that leaves just one East Village mystery building in the portfolio of architect Stephen B. Jacobs. That building, at 311-315 East 11th Street (between First/Second Avenues), has been quietly rising on the site of a former parking garage after breaking ground in the spring of '08. This week, the unnamed project started getting a touch of cladding. According to permits, the eight-story building (owned by SSP Holdings) is slated for 36 units. If the market is unwelcoming, at least there's an out. We're sure the school next door could use the extra classroom space.
