NYU is definitely headed for Santa's Naughty list this Christmas, as the school's wave of church destruction has successfully spread from the East Village's historic St. Ann's to Washington Square South's more modern on-campus Catholic Center. The building had been marked for death for a while, to be replaced by something that NYU is not quite ready to reveal, though Big Purple may have tipped its hand in 2007. The tipster-submitted destructoporn appears to be the rear of the building at West 3rd and Thompson Street, meaning that in a final act of holy defiance, NYU is taking the building from behind. Don't tell the Pope!
