CurbedWire: Coney's Amusement Advisors, 56 Leonard Gives Way to Lattes, Javits Expansion Action Shots?

FAR WEST SIDE?Could the neutered Javits Center expansion, which still has plans for 60,000 square feet of new exhibition space, actually be underway? A tipster high on life sends in the above photos showing some heavy bulldozing action on the plot of land just to the north of main exhibit hall. Also, not the presence of the rising 316 Eleventh Avenue in the distance. [CurbedWire Inbox]

CONEY ISLAND?The city is moving ahead with its plan to create a temporary amusement park on the land it already owns on Coney Island, a placeholder while the rezoning/redevelopment mess gets sorted. Per a press release, "Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Robert C. Lieber, and Premier Rides, Inc. President Jim Seay today announced the Coney Island Amusement Advisory Panel, a group of leading amusement industry experts that will help structure and expedite the City’s plans for interim amusements at Coney Island in Summer 2010." TRIBECA?"Yet another sign of the times. The billboard in the parking lot at the corner of Beach and Varick which used to be an ad for 56 Leonard, the Herzog and de Meuron Bldg as you know, is now an ad for 99-cent Dunkin Donuts lattes." No further comment needed. [CurbedWire Inbox]
