Though a judge has blocked the Brooklyn House of Detention expansion for now, the city's plan to award the contract to the architects who'll design the jail's addition has been blocked (for the second time!) by William Thompson, comptroller and potential mayoral candidate. Thompson says his office "uncovered serious flaws and improper conduct" in the $31 million contract, and though some weird political game is being played here, neighbors who are still fighting the Jail With Retail plan must like what they're seeing.
