After years of quality-of-life crackdowns on East Village nightlife, the Ninth Precinct has folded its cabaret enforcement unit into the regular patrol (budget concerns, perhaps?). The spin is that the precinct can now assign more officers than just the old cabaret unit to patrol the bar scene, but some are wary of that claim. Community Board 3 has more bar complaints than any other board in the city. [The Villager]
