In her Gimme Shelter column today, the Post's Jennifer Gould Keil reports that director (and husband of Kate Winslet) Sam Mendes recently checked out the achingly desirable 4,365-square-foot penthouse at the West Village's 99 Jane Street. That makes Mendes but the latest in a long list of celebs to check out the pad, which is actually made up of two combined penthouse and is not?repeat, not?a distressed sale, but here's what's more interesting: the asking price on the 4BR, 4.5BA condo is now $14.5 million, down a cool $2 million from December. The listing has also moved over to Brown Harris Stevens' Paula Del Nunzio, who offers up the fresh floorplan porn seen above. Yes, we'd like to stand on the edge of that private roof deck and shout, "We're kings of the world!" Will we? No.
