Eater Tastings: Cooper Square Al Fresco Update, David Chang Spotted in the Wild, Tribeca's Smyth Hotel Still Needs Work

This week's top dish from Eater, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...

1) East Village: In anticipation of its soon-to-open Table 8 restaurant, bawdy Bowery newcomer the Cooper Square Hotel has added a touch of outdoor seating to its garden off East Fifth Street, which is still devoid of the promised trees and shrubbery. By the way, a message to yesterday's yoga lady up on the tenth-floor: You should really think about pulling those blinds closed. UPDATE: And here's the current state of the second-floor outdoor terrace.

2) Noho: David Chang and his Momo Superstars brought a food cart, some picnic tables and a heck of a lot of foie gras to that empty patch of pavement at Lafayette and Houston this afternoon to feed over 150 hungry contest winners and food media types. Which means now might be a good time to ransack the Momofuku Milk Bar.

3) Tribeca: West Broadway's Smyth Tribeca is something of the forgotten Thompson hotel, but the place is pretty much sold out for the Tribeca Film Festival and work on its restaurant and nightlife spaces continues, albeit very slowly, a spotcheck reveals. As for Smyth Upstairs, the 15 condos at the top of the hotel, that's anybody's guess.
