1) Soho: The recession has come calling in Manhattan's high-end mall, but it's not only posh retailers that are feeling the pain. The Banana Republic women's store at 550 Broadway has closed and will be consolidated with BR's men's store down the block, which is closed for the touching-up. And for those with slightly more disposable income, upscale tile and fixture retailer Waterworks is also calling it quits. Wonders Racked, "Could this also be the first stage in the – gasp – degentrification of Soho?"

3) Jersey City: The mystery of the Newport Centre Mall's Apple kiosk is a fun one because it involves A) Jersey City, and B) A mall. Who doesn't love those things? Apple, apparently. The kiosk is not the company's new business model.
